With warm weather on its way, you may be looking forward to spending time outside and enjoying a delicious meal at your favourite local eatery. The City of Vaughan is doing its part to help restaurants make dining al fresco an option each year!  The seasonal outdoor patio program  is now here to stay, following Council approval at the April 22 Council meeting.

This program was introduced during the global COVID-19 pandemic to allow banquet halls and other eating establishments the ability to open seasonal outdoor patios. This included temporary patio structures on private property, like in plaza parking lots. Due to its success during COVID-19 and the City continuing support for local businesses, it is now a permanent program.

Eating establishments and banquet halls looking to operate a seasonal patio can apply for an endorsement to their business licence by filling out the Seasonal Outdoor Patio Application (PDF) and submit it with all required documents, and the $200 fee.

There are several ways to apply:

  1. In person or by mail to:
By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services
    Vaughan City Hall, Level 100
    2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.

  2. Placed in marked drop-off boxes at each entrance of Vaughan City Hall.
